The Paradox of CAM

Ladies and Gentlemen, whether you like it or not, you are looking at the next face of the NFL in Cameron Jerrell Newton a.k.a. CAAAMMMM!

This year, Cam has taken the NFL by storm, propelling his team to Super Bowl 50 against the legend that is Peyton Manning, and more than likely winning the MVP award. Through his journey through the NFL this year, we have seen the growth of an unstoppable force playing the Quarterback position with a team nobody expected to be this good. Also, we have seen the Quarterback position played very differently than what people are used to; with bravado, excitement, and showmanship or SWAG.

Yes, SWAG. Cam is not shy about his excitement for playing the game, and any chance he gets after making a big play he shows it. For some, this is offensive because the quarterback position is not usually acting like this. You would see this type of attention grabbing antics by wide receivers or running backs, but noooo not quarterbacks.

Well, CAM doesn’t care and he plays the game the only way he knows how, and that’s to have fun. I mean why shouldn’t he enjoy it, especially because of how good he is and how hard he works. He shares his joy with his teammates, with the kids who get footballs, and the whole state of Carolina that has galvanized around him. He is the hero that team deserves and what they need.

Still, there is a huge outcry from “They” who do not like what Cam Newton is doing, despite the fact that Cam handles his business on and off the field and has never been a lick of trouble in the NFL. Take a look at this quick video..

The thing that scares the NFL is that they know he is the next big thing, and he will become the face of the league if the Panthers win the Super Bowl this year. It is understandable, because almost everyone is afraid of change to a certain extent, but change is good right? Cam is an unbelievable player, and an incredible man as well, but just because he embraces a young hip hop culture, people get rubbed the wrong way by him being the face of the NFL.

To those folks I say get over it. The Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys of the world are slowly fading out and CAM (and possibly Russell Wilson) are coming in. The CAM train is coming and there is nothing you can do about it. This is the new wave, and at the end of the day, it will bring more attention to the most popular sport in America whether it’s good publicity or bad publicity, and the NFL will love that. At the end of the day, we watch the game for entertainment, and that is what he provides.

  1. Love this!! Thank you!! Cam deserves so much more respect than he gets, its really upsetting. He’s led the Panthers to the Super Bowl after an amazing season, there’s no reason why he should be getting so much backlash from having the time of his life playing a GAME!
