As we all know in my last article, Russell Westbrook has been on a tear as of late. He has become a legitimate MVP candidate this season, and is really becoming the “Alpha Dog” of the Thunder. Well, looks like Westbrook will have to continue to carry the load this year, without his “Thunder Buddy” Kevin Durant..
Durant is out for the remainder of the year with a foot injury that has been bothering him all season. Durant had a 3rd procedure on the foot to repair a bone graft in his fractured foot and will be out 4-6 months. This puts a hamper on the Thunder’s season this year, especially for the playoffs, but what about the future of the organization?
As I mentioned before, I believe Durant and Westbrook want to continue to play together, so right now they are continuing to go through a few trials. If Durant is able to come back healthy next season and they make a Finals runs, then all the talk about breaking up this team will stop, at least in my opinion.
